Funeral Directors

Our funeral directors, Brad McAneney, Sheryl Wright and Kirsty Georgeson are dedicated in their roles. They will listen and gently guide family and friends through the legal requirements and practical details of organising a funeral.

Brad McAneney

Brad attended Campion College, a Catholic Co-educational College before moving to Auckland to study Social Work. He graduated in 1999 with a bachelor of Social Work from Massey University. He joined the funeral industry in 2001 as a trainee embalmer and now holds both the National Certificate in Embalming and the National Certificate in Funeral Directing. Brad took over the role of Manager of Guardian Funeral Home in May 2007.

Brad enjoys both the embalming and funeral directing roles and holds customer service as a high ideal. "Our role is very flexible, some families want us to take care of all the finer details, while others are very hands on. I enjoy the diverse types of people that I meet and being of assistance at a time that can be very stressful for families."

Sheryl Wright

Sheryl Wright (nee Wooller) was born in Wellington and was educated at Kilbirnie School and Wellington East Girl's College. She has been married for 39 years and has two adult children and seven grand-children.

Sheryl's personal time is spent with her family, as they conveniently live in the Wellington region. In August of 1994 she joined the funeral industry to assist with administration, after several months she was invited to add to her role the challenge of becoming a funeral director.

Sheryl has been on the fringe of the funeral industry for 39 years as her husband was previously a funeral director and she has seen the role change in many ways. Sheryl enjoys becoming involved in assisting families fulfill their needs in regards to planning funerals. Having the life experiences of being a friend, wife, mother and nana and also having experienced first hand the loss of those closest to us, she has a real empathy to those who she comes into contact with.

Kirsty Georgeson

Kirsty has returned to work part time at Guardian after a period of seven years during which time she has trained and worked as a primary school teacher. Kirsty is a qualified funeral director and embalmer.

She is married to Mark and has two pre-school children who keep her busy. She spends her spare time walking the dog, working out at the gym and enjoying family life.

Excellence is the result of caring more than others think wise, risking more than others think safe, dreaming more than others think practical, and expecting more than others think possible.
