Arrangements
You may wish to plan ahead. Pre-arranging a funeral for yourself
or a family member is as sensible as making a Will. You can
nominate exactly what you want and in as much detail as you
wish. By doing so in advance, you will think more clearly
and can make decisions by involving others. We are happy to
discuss the options with you and record the arrangements made.
This is a free service and you may contact us at any time
to make an appointment.
It is helpful to record certain details about yourself and your family to complete the necessary legal documents including the registration of death. You may complete our Personal Profile Record online or contact us for a paper copy to be posted to you.
The executor of the deceased's Will has the legal right and obligation to arrange the funeral. The executor is not legally bound by instructions left by pre-arrangement but they are usually followed.
Funeral expenses are generally met by the deceased's estate. If there is no money available you may qualify for a funeral grant from Work and Income NZ. In the event of an accidental death or suicide, a grant may be available from ACC. If you wish the Funeral Director may apply for these grants on your behalf.
